This was such an emotional read. Anna is struggling on how to move forward after losing her fiancé to suicide.

When a calendar reminder pops up for a planned trip they had, she decides to honor him and set sails. With a few missteps she realizes she needs help for this voyage.

Keane is an Irishman who is experienced in sailing, previous winning all sorts of races. He is now trying to come to grips with his new normal after an accident. He agrees to help Anna on her journey. He is so sweet, attentive, a safe place, and attuned to Anna and what she needs.

While Anna struggles there is an attraction between them both. While there was some struggles toward the end, leaving them both to figure out just what they want their future to be.

I felt so deeply for Anna’s journey with grief. It’s not linear and can hit you at odd times. She really took effort to heal, and I loved how supportive Keane was of her journey.

I liked this way more than I thought I would. The journey the two main characters take to healing and growing, I think, was more important than their love story. I really loved the journey. It is a slow burn romance. I have a small crush on the main male character, Keane. The places they visited were spectacular. Anna, the main female character and narrator, became so strong, but I wish we didn't experience some of her thoughts that felt not necessary and awkward. There were also a few places that dragged a little. Overall, it's a nice PG-13 love story.

This book was heartbreaking and beautiful. I don’t know that I was prepared going into it for a book about a woman grieving her partner’s death by suicide, but the author dealt with the heavy topics well and really showed the struggle to move on.

ngl i kind of wish this was longer but otherwise it was really digestable - grief was handled and portrayed pretty accurately (from what i can tell from my experience with the human condition)

The writing was nothing special, but I enjoyed the sailing references and needed mindless romance. So I’d recommend it when the mood is right!
