This was a fun concept that I enjoyed reading.
However, I think it would have been better with some serious editing down…it was way too long and the writing tended to ramble. Also, more horror scares would have been nice…there were some tense and gruesome scenes, but it all felt somewhat tame and not quite scary enough. Loved the settings and descriptions, the house and the maze cage with the chess boards were my favorite settings. Overall I liked his novel and would definitely check out this author again.

The idea behind this was really fascinating but it lost its appeal one third of the way through. The majority of the book is the characters being hunted and it got old pretty fast.

Really loved the concept of this! I actually enjoyed the characters a great amount. This doesn't do the sin of "the monster is cool but you barely see them sorry" you actually get their perspectives!
Looking at some reviews beforehand I decided to read this more as a thriller/action movie type deal and I enjoyed it a lot that way instead of just reading as traditional horror.

I did get a bit tired near the end of all the characters having sort of fake out deaths over and over!

Great read. Awesome mix of horror, actual plot, character development, and a bit of humor. Gory at time but not gore for the sake of gore. Kept my attention throughout. Wonderful debut novel. Can’t wait to see what else the author will do. BTW - his FB is hilarious.

Like Pooh Bear & Co. met The Most Dangerous Game

The headline sums things up! Throw in some back story, an adventure turned nightmare, and plenty of twists along the way, and this book makes for a great stand-alone read for anyone who grew up with a favorite character & now loves Stephen King as an adult.

A bizarre and unique novel of revenge and survival, Winterset Hollow was a pleasure to read. The relationship between Rabbit and Frog was so well fleshed out, the ending scene with them broke my heart. I found the novel to be a bit wordy at times, and overall a bit predictable.

I would have loved to see full revenge in this novel. I believe the “villain” characters deserved their happy ending. It’s a very colonizer heavy influenced storyline (as per my interpretation) and I would have loved to see the other side win!

It’s a fantastic first novel and I will definitely read more in the future, great book overall.
