Despite all of this, the last 10% of the book finally remembers that plot is a thing and sweeps you up into an actual story. I will read the second one, but with the lowest possible expectations.

I feel like, had it had time and energy spent in it, it could have had real meaning and substance. Except it was all f*** and c*** which isn't really a plot? And heavens, don't get me started on the dialogue, four pages of back and forth that could have been half a page.
Bottom line, just as everyone says, the only reason I made it this far was because it was a train wreck I couldn't look away from. Buh-bye.

One of the absolute worst books, if one can even call it a book, I have ever had the misfortune of reading. I saw a review that said the book was so bad it was funny, and they were...correct. Although it went from being hilariously bad, to so bad it makes Mein Kampf read like a Nobel Prize winner.
If this book focused on the plot that it promised, finding your missing twin in a town full of murderous supernatural beings with some enemies to lovers romance on the side, then it would be fine. But we get very little plot, and a lot of demon penis that is apparently large enough to warrant its own postal code. One cannot go one page without one of the two main characters musing about how badly they want to fuck one another, yet claiming they cannot stand the sight of each other. I'm sorry to break the news to the author, but that does not create sexual tension. No, it just makes me want to gauge my eyes out with a rusted ice cream scoop.
And the sex scenes themselves are disgusting. I don't kink shame. If someone wants to be hit in the bedroom then hey that's good for them. So long as it is CONSENTUAL and love and support is provided after the Devil's Tango has been completed. No, this book does none of that. After the protagonist looses her virginity to the guy who made her BLEED PROFUSELY while doing the deed, he literally tosses her aside like a used jizz rag. The sex in this book is bordering on rape, and I am not for that.
The writing itself is abhorrent too. For instance, if one were to play a drinking game in which they took a shot every time an iteration of the word "fuck" or the word "pussy" were used, they would be hospitalized by the end of the second chapter. I don't even know if they would make it to the ambulance on time. This book reads like a middle schooler wanted to explore their sexual awakening, and didn't understand that mature themes could go outside of using the word "fuck" and constant mentions of sex. There are two entire chapters of the male love interest monologuing about how badly he wants to corrupt the innocence of the female protagonist by essentially raping her. It adds nothing to the plot, other than you learn the man had a wife at one point who died. Honestly, I'm happy for his dead wife. She found a way to escape his miserable ass.
I finished this book because I paid 99 cents to read it. I will not read the rest of the trilogy as I am not strong enough. Jesus died on the cross to save us from all our sins, except for this book. Jesus didn't die for this.

This book was not my cup of tea, and I honestly feel sick having finished it, but I'm rating it on writing, not my personal opinion so it's 2.5 stars. The plot is nuts, not super well put together, and the Knox sections were confusing and I skipped most of them. Also, I'm not a prude about cussing in books, I'm all for it, but my head ached trying to read 3 f***s in one sentence. To anyone who thinks Crescent City had too much cussing, this is not the book for you!
I won't be finishing the series, I'm shocked I pushed through to finish it at all.

That being said, I flew through it. It was a hate to love to HATE kinda book. Oh man, I’m still blushing. I wish it were stronger and had more plot because I do think there’s some potential here with the world and magic presented but again it was all a platform to uphold never-ending sex sequences.

Moderate: Blood, Gore, Death, and Child death
Minor: Vomit and Panic attacks/disorders
This is supernatural, dark erotica. Go in with appropriate expectations.
