It’s horrible but weirdly addictive, like I want to stop but can’t

Terrible. I nearly dnf several times. The world could be interesting but you can’t really tell because the characters are horrible and I hated them all. They never get better. There’s plenty of smut but it’s honestly gross because both characters just suck. Do not recommend.

"I'm giving up on this book. Don't get me wrong, the plot has potential and I am a little curious to discover why and who, and all that, but reading about men making threats to women about raping them, breaking them with their c***, touching without permission, and all of that BS, I'm done. A woman supposedly wrote this, but with this book, she's put women back in the stone age, even though it's present day.

So. I read a lot of trashy books with questionable love interests, but this one... I loathed this one. Knox is a horrible being, the absolute embodiment of red flags. Our MC is Aria, who is a kind and OP witch, who takes it upon her to free the magical world from the remnants of her family's bad influence. Also she is 25 years old. Knox is about 1000 years old, and 500 (again, Aria is 25) years ago Aria's family member (NOT Aria) did something terrible to him. That is the tea. For this action he verbally, emotionally, sexually and phisically abuses Aria, while claiming that he loves her.
He basically rapes Aria taking her virginity!!!!!, puts a stigma on her flesh!!!! so that he can monitor her at all times (obviously he didn't ask for consent).

Basically he is the worst possible character ever. I can't emphasize how much I hated him. He is an overgrown toddler, who blames his lack of capability to overcome emotional trauma (in 500 fucking years) on an innocent woman, and abuses her brutally. This is just shitty. Also, I can't for the love of God understand, why Aria haven't hexed his stupid head of after the first 20 or so pages.
There is no redemption arc enough for him to be good. He should be the main villain in this series, not the love interest. I honestly rooted to the villain to kill this pile of dung.

Not really sure how I ended up finishing this book. The plot was basically nonexistent until the last 25% of the book and for a book that's almost 600 pages, that was a mess to get through. The tension between the main two characters was good, but the plot needed to be more compelling to make me want to continue with this series. Also, the plot twist at the end would have been more surprising if the POV hadn't switched to Knox for a few chapters. Those just didn't need to exist.
