The best word I have for this book is inconsistent. Minor characters, mentioned once or twice in the beginning, play pivotal roles. I had to go back and search for the mention on Det. Brennan in the beginning of the book and he was the rng leader, or one of them. There are factual errors. For example, on pg 269 the blood type O was mentioned as pretty rare, when actually it is the most common blood type in the human species. At one point, Rachel is talking to her auncle Paul and she calls him Matt. There seems to be many different plot lines that have no real connection to the main character or main story. For instance, the Zane brothers who may be half brothers to Rachel and Devon (a plot point that never gets resolved) and Ted Nash and his stalking (a plot for another book perhaps).

First of all, Kaylin did a great job at keeping your attention and helping the story flow. She laid out the ground work from the beginning by giving a great amount of details into the backstory of where Kaylin's feelings and emotions where coming from. Secondly, everyone who has had to deal with grief and trying to make sense of what seems like chaos can relate to this character. Besides having to deal with the death of her father, she is dealing with a broken relationship as well as a sibling who is in trouble. Should she help?! We always do because they are family. This story has a little something for everyone and will be an enjoyable read for anyone who is into suspense that comes with a realm of reality.

First off, I don't want to admit that I judge a book by it's cover... but I do. This cover looked intriguing to me so that is why I chose to review it.

I read the first chapter and wasn't too sold on what was going on. But I continued on, to really give it a fair chance. The more I got farther into the book, the more complex the story line became, and it was just too confusing to follow. Between scuba diving (in which the author explained in great detail, which was a plus), a past love affair, a kidnapping by people who seem to be mobsters, buried treasure from long ago and ghost stories, I think it's just too much for a reader to process. I felt like there wasn't even a chance to connect with the main characters (Chase and Rachel) because the story was taking me this way and that way and all over the place. Some parts of the book were well written, just not the entire book as a whole.

Disclosure of Material Connection: I received a complimentary electronic book from a website (in which I was told not to post the name of). I was not required to write a positive review, only an honest one. The opinions I have expressed here are my own.
