Ah I love this story. I’ve always loved the movie so I found this super easy to follow. I love that the ending isn’t the typical ‘happily ever after’- it makes it really unique.

I didn’t feel the POVs of wills parents were necessary in this book.

Also, justice for Patrick. He just kind of gets flicked to the side.

not the first time I’ve read it, just was thinking about it while i’m working on giver of stars and needed a familiar audiobook for a drive… had to finish on paper though because the end is a doozy and I didn’t have the patience for narration lol. tears, every time.

Spoilers, I guess.

The story was great, but I couldn't really feel for the characters. Usually I would be all tears for an ending like this, especially when the main character feels so greatly for him, but I was pretty indifferent at the end, even though I hoped she'd change his mind during the trip. Maybe it's because we went into the story knowing what he might do. Three stars due to the well executed story.

I though that "The Fault In Our Stars" was painfull...i was wrong.
Here is the thing: "Me Before yo" is a magical, and painfull and enjoyful and sad book.
Just like Sam Claflin said -the actor who is going to play Will in the cinematic adaptacion-,this is kind of a Beauty and The Beast look alike.
We start with Louise: A lovely person, happy with her life that sees the god things in her life.
And then,we have Will: living in a Wheelchair for the rest of is life, using sarcasm and rudeness as his weapons and refusing to let anyone enter in the only place he stills trying to keep: his heart.
But, with time, they started to enjoy each other company. They make jokes and talk more. Barriers where breaked and they started to fall for in love, slowly.
Then, "the bomb" comes and Louise does everything she can to stop it. At the begining, she couldn't see the affection but that was the magic of the book: she gave everything, incluiding herself, so she could just keep him alive.
I alredy compared this books to "The Fault In Our Stars" but,my point is:
-The fault in our stars was sad because Gus didn't had a choice. When the cancer came, we only waited.
But here,WIll had a choice. He could live. He could have stayed. Of course,he wouldn't be what he wanted, but he could. And that is what makes the book so sad.
I cried the most in the last chapters when everything started to fall apart. I almost started to sob as well.
This books shows that not every fairytales ends up with "And They Lived Happily Ever After". No,this is the true. The cruel true.
I cursed many times when Will went to Switzerland anyway but i started to acept him and,i know its going to sound crazy, but i think that just made me love the book even more.
Love may be powerfull but Will couldn't live like that anymore. He wasn't being selfish,he just couldn't hold on to the changes any longer.
So,i give 5 stars to this book but it will not go to my favorites.ABbout the "After You" book,im going to read it but i think that this series would be great only with one book.

I watched the movie before reading the book, and making my way through the chapters made me realise how much of the dialogue was taken straight from the book with little adaptation, and how completely perfect the casting in that movie was! A real surprise given that book-to-movie adaptations rarely ever receive a positive review from me! A testament to Moyes' writing and the movie producers.
