I wanted to read this book because Lana’s books have been all over the book community. I got this book, The Nanny and The Fake Mate in the 3 for £6 at The Works and decided to jump right in. This book was so sweet and adorable, and I want to hug them both.
This book has two points of view. The first is Ian Chase and when a very public breakup becomes a PR nightmare for his hockey team, he hopes to focus on his game, but that suddenly seems less likely than a hat trick. With his careers and the team’s image in jeopardy, Ian is surprised to find a solution through none other than Delilah Baker, his best friend and teammate’s little sister . . . who isn’t so little anymore. The second point of view is Delilah Baker, and she is known as the Darling of Baker on her local cable, and being in the public eye is her bread and butter. But with her numbers dwindling and her producers turning up the heat, Delilah offers up the half-baked idea to collaborate with her brother’s team to entice the hockey fans of Boston to tune in to her show. Delilah thinks it will be a piece of cake – until the team sends Ian Chase, her brother’s best friend and the object of a decade-long crush that she’s never quite gotten over. Delilah and Ian’s teams think it’s a true win-win situation – gaining higher numbers for Delilah’s show and casting Ian in a more positive light. And viewers are eating them up like a cupcake, sparking the idea to play up their relationship for the goal of good press. With more than just their careers on thin ice, the line between what’s real and what’s for show begins to blur, but one thing for this PR stunt will either be a total game changer or leave them both totally pucked.
I love the idea of like fake dating but one of them has had a crush on them over the years and then the other one sees them in a different light. I just love them both. I love that Ian was trying his hardest to fix his image to be able to finish his career at his hometown but having to deal with his dickhead dad. I never wanted to punch a fictional character as much as that asshole. There was just no need to be that toxic, but I liked the fact that Ian never became that toxic, he did the complete opposite and just became the perfect boyfriend who can communicate, play hockey and be a gentleman. I loved Delilah and how she was determined to prove to Ian that she wasn’t the young girl that he knew her as before he left. I just love how positive they both were even though they were both dealing with all their personal shit. I love their relationship and how once they get over the awkwardness of seeing each other again but then it was all the inside jokes and getting to see how much they’ve grown. I love the storyline of a PR stunt and helping the rating and social media going nuts about it but then they don’t know how to keep it private. The ending had me giggling and kicking my feet especially when Delilah knew how much he hated the kiss cam but knew how much she loved it, so he did it.
I kinda want a second book in this series with Delilah’s brother and Ian’s sister but I don’t know how legal that would be, but you could sense the tension between them during the last few chapters.

Fun light romance to get me through some rough times.

Minor: Death of parent, Abandonment
This wasn’t as good as The Fake Mate which I loved, but I still mostly had a good time. Lana knows how to write spice and banter. Again, the banter was better in Fake Mate. This story just felt a little less developed. Hoping this couples brother and sister get a book! Over all 3.5-3.75⭐️ still would recommend! This made me realize I miss hockey romance!
