The story of Spectre and Question's experiences during the Final Crisis. They watch as people near and dear to them, like Batwoman, succumb to the Justifiers. We also find out the backstory of both these current incarnations of Spectre and Question. The ending is nice, making this a good, but not great, graphic novel.

A tie-in to the Final Crisis, and one of the few that makes any sense. It's still a confused mess, and the connection between Cain/Darkseid/Vandal Savage is never really explained. It's still a fairly entertaining read and a decent reflection on religion in the guise of a comic book.

The Spectre always were and is "the agent of God's vengeance" and in this amazing spin-off from Morrison's Final Crisis this concept is fully put to the test. If Morrison's tale was Gnostic, Rucka is Christian. I think that this enhances the story instead of hindering it: Final Crisis was about a cosmic conflict and heroes and gods, a classic modernized.

The story was okay. The art was not my thing. The idea of the Religion of Crime sounds interesting, but they're just so one-note and dull in everything I've read (Infinite Crisis, Five Books of Blood, Batwoman: Elegy). Which blows because I love Renee, including in this story (that's where the 3 stars come from). I wish she had a more deserving big bad.

Magnificent to read again. Nothing like a bit of Superman and his buddies kicking God butt.

Shows everything that is and always was wrong with DC: it is just too chaotic, too messy to tell a good story.

I don't think I can accurately judge how good this collection is. I wasn't fully invested from the beginning because of the stories Many plots and subplots. There was too much going on for me, and I felt I wasn't prepared to jump into the novel.

★ = Abysmal, Painful to Read

has essentially the same plot as The Neverending Story.
