A cute, if a bit dated culinary mystery

I enjoyed the Hallmark films, & enjoyed this as well.
lighthearted mysterious

Another fun mystery packed with tasty-sounding recipes. Although there are thrilling moments, I like how this series also has a lighter tone and funny scenes compared to some of the other cooking mysteries I read.

A simple continuation of the series. There is a cooking contest, and I was afraid of that as an overused trope, previously commented upon, but it was only a backdrop to the murder and an excuse to talk about more food. It wasn't a problem.

A nasty guy gets killed, so whodunit? All cozy mysteries have the main character leaving work to snoop. This one continues with too much time away from work and far too much illegal activity, but it still holds together. Also, the evolving relationship with her sister is nice.

Average.

Omg! Hannah is the worst. I’m sorry. This is just going to be me dog piling on her cause she is the worst! She thinks she’s sooo amazing and that everyone else is stupid. She gets shocked when people have common sense and is super condescending about it!

She is also never at work! I’m glad Lisa is now a partner. Whole time i just want her to take over completely. Hannah doesn’t deserve Lisa or the shop.

I hate the fact that she has an inferiority complex cause her mother and sisters are pretty and she’s not. she has gone off about how Norman is soo perfect but he’s ugly maybe twice in this book. Like damn. He deserves so much better than her! And the fact she’s just leading these two guys on?! Girl you’re so lame.

The way she talks to most characters is crazy. Like she acts like without her, they can’t do anything. Her personality is so hard to get past.

The mystery part itself was so boring. Like you see it coming cause of how the first book went. Two people died. One saw it all happen that’s why it’s two people.

If i were the cops, I’d lock her up. Like why are people breaking so many laws for/ with her?! Medical information, school schedules, and breaking into someone’s house!!! I’d sue the whole damn town for letting this menace lose!

The only reason this got a 1 star is because the other characters really carried and they are all lovely people.

Idk if i will read the next one. Like does she get better?! Im super invested in everyone else tho. So i might read one more. But honestly i could have gone without reading it

I probably shouldn’t love this book as much as I did. It basically followed the exact same plot as the first book in the series, just with a different murderer and a different victim... but I’m a fan of cozy mysteries! I do find myself wanting to eat a lot of cookies... but that’s not a bad thing. I know I will be reading the next one (or all of them).

My big question... for such a nice little town, how do they have so little crime but SO much murder? Who will be left in the town by the end of the series??

This installment in the Hannah Swenson murder mystery books was very good. I liked it more than the first book, for sure, and I cannot wait to make the recipes out of it!

I think the murder itself was a good mystery, although I figured out whodunit before Hannah did. I love how Fluke put Norman and Mike in the same place and put them up against each other. I liked how Andrea was "needed" in this book and we got to see the sisters get closer. And Moishe...gahh how I love me some Moishe. I wish there were movies or a tv series made out of these books. I love them.

Recipes include: Apricot Bread Pudding, Chocolate Highlander Bars, Fiesta Dip Platter, Hawaiian Flan, Molasses Crinkles, Oatmeal Raisin Crisps, and Strawberry Shortcake.

Joanne Fluke knows how to lead you astray to the point the murderer is almost always forgettable after being introduced
