This is another okay mystery with recipes. Weak plotting. I figured it out much earlier. Fluke is getting better as the series progresses, but she's no Evanovitch.
It felt a bit like a Nancy Drew book...with cooking. I enjoyed it. Light read.
After my bad experience with the first book, I didn't have high hopes for the second book.
However, seeing so many positive reviews made me try it out sooner than I normally would.
I was not disappointed.
This book has better pacing, less fluff and almost no interruptions from the main plot.
The thing I liked most, is that the focus wasn't on the 'love interests' and it put Hannah in her respective role as the 'main detective'.
It also covers a few elements that I really like in books, namely, and I was not disappointed in that it followed through on threats.
The last thing I'm pleased about is that the constant nagging about 'get married, make babies, do this do that' of her mother has died down. She is -in my opinion-- by far the most obnoxious character of this world.
I'm a lot more positive about continueing the series.

i’ve only been reading this cozy mystery series for Moisha the cat and for Moisha only.
I'm not sure I like the dessert recipes better than the cookie recipes. I thought this plot was a tad draggy at times, which explains why it took me so long to read, but I like the light hearted love triangle developing.
I like these simple, nonviolent, nonsexy mysteries as a quick read. This one was predictable to me--and I never see anything coming in most mysteries or I am wrong.
These are fast becoming my embarrassing little secret...even more than the smut, I think. They are total fluff and, after a full book of Hannab being quite competent of often seeming to be quite logical, the danger bit she finds herself in at the end of each book is totally ridiculous...but each book takes me right back to watching an episode of Murder She Wrote as a kid and it is all just happy, happy. I really like this sweet, fluffy books and one day, I am going to get around to trying some of the yummy sounding recipes.

If you like books where women support other women and aren't constantly thinking about how ugly they are because they weigh 10 extra pounds and how ugly other people are because they're a few pounds overweight and how she needs to watch what she eats while eating cookies for breakfast, than this series is not for you.
If you take those parts out of the book, it's really a good cozy mystery. But every time a woman is mentioned it's followed by how they shouldn't wear something or another because they look fat or shouldn't eat something or another for the same reason. Plus they make her mother unbearable.
I'm going to try to keep listening to another audiobook just hoping that this gets better because otherwise it's just so cozy and cute. But.... these features are just SO annoying that I'm angry and annoyed half of the book. I don't know if I should keep trying but the series is free with my audible membership and easy to listen to while I work so I guess I'll give the next book a try too. Lets hope it gets less misogynistic.
