The fist book was so fun, and the second too but the quality fell a little. I loved in this book that Hannah and Andrea was great friends and crime buddies! But the dialogues was kinda lame for me...The end was still surprising and i loved to 'solve' this mistery.

Hannah and her zany orange cat Moisha are back at it again. A baking contest has come to Lake Eden, and Hannah is making her famous Strawberry Shortcake. One of the judges is murdered, and it happens to be the basketball coach who Hannah knows has been abusing his wife Danielle, suspicion turns to her. Hannah and her sister Andrea have to figure out what other clues there are and what other suspects there could be before the police make it a too-easy case of domestic abuse turned murder. There is always some twists and turns in Joanna Fluke books. I really enjoyed this one. I hope to get through them all.

I would give this 3.5 stars!

A really fun and well paced sequel. On to book three.
lighthearted mysterious relaxing medium-paced

I really liked book #1 and I quickly bought and finished the second installment. Had to lower my rating though because the book is EXACTLY the same as the first one. As if it was written by a template or paint-by-numbers.

SpoilerIn both books there is a murder committed and then a second murder committed because someone was a witness to the first murder. Hannah investigates "unofficially" and ends up in a final confrontation with the killer that is EXACTLY the same in both books. They have a gun, she keeps talking to stall for time (and to wrap up any questions the reader may have), she makes a wild effort to disarm them, she ends up with the gun and the killer on the floor, the cop(s) come in and take over from there. She also repeats a lot of the same phrasing and imagery in the books. Like, exactly the same words to describe things.

I gave three stars because it was still a light, easy, enjoyable read, and I may even give the third one a try to see if Fluke has any other tricks up her sleeve. But if nothing changes then I won't be reading any more.
