The recipes are bad and they should feel bad. But hot dang I can run through one of these in a hot minute, and I don't have cable.

Another good fluff book. Writing's stilted and occasionally obvious, but I enjoy the recipes and storylines. You can't read deep, meaningful, dense literature all the time (or even most of it, in my case!).

It's not Shakespeare and it doesn't have to be. I enjoyed this as much as the first and now I want to bake something.

There is a point in this book at which any basic human intelligence, or probably one of those chess-playing computers, would figure out the killer with no problem. Coincidentally, this is the exact same point at which Hannah suddenly becomes dumber than a sack of rocks. I assume she got hit in the head with an oven door off-camera or something. There was no mention of Mike's moustache but I have to assume it is still there, lurking.

This book is sadly almost a carbon copy of the first one. Same progression and not much character development. It wouldve been better as a stand alone. The mystery itself was solidly average. Not grounbreaking but not awful. Combine that with the outdated opinions on Indigenous people, fatphobia and an ableist slur, it make for a pretty disappointing read overall.

This was just as fun to read as Chocolate Chip Cookie Murder! I will say that it was a little frustrating how many things Hannah got away with in this book— tracking down a high schooler in order to inappropriately question him, going through Norman’s patient records, etc.

The problem with reading this series out of order is that when a character shows up who I haven't seen in the later books it's easy to tell that they are the killer/will get murdered.

It was kinda cool to read an earlier book though because it introduces problems that have already been resolved in the books I've read.

My biggest problem with this one was that everyone seemed a little too willing to be outside the law/their ethics... it seems like in the later books Hannah is a little bit more careful about that sort of thing.

Also this one didn't have as many recipes :(

Average. Will I continue the series, yes. These books are a very light read. They remind me of the Sookie Stackhouse mysteries, but instead of vamps, there is BAKING! I'm a fan of both. Won't have u deep in thought long after the final page, but if you like reading and cooking, I'd give this series a go.

As always the Hannah Swensen mystery books are a quick, easy, light read. The murder is generally pretty easy to figure out, but it is great watching Hannah come to the realization throughout the novel. The development between the sisters (Hannah and Andrea) was a great addition to this novel. Overall I thought it was a cute quick read.
