I love Sally Thorne’s books for the same reasons I hate them sometimes - she’s too damn good at writing characters. She can easilyyy make you love one character and despise another. I hateddd Darcy’s brother. He grinded my gears every single time he spoke. But this book was beautifully written and I loved it.

After reading Sally short story on Amazon I immediately went to find her books. This was my first and I love the banter! It’s so easy to fall in love with these characters!
It's like Sally Thorne took the worst aspects of toxic masculinity, slapped nipple piercings and lip stick on it and that's supposed to make the character endearing. If the genders were reversed in this story Darcy would be among the most hated by the second chapter. For me, she was just another in a long line of annoying female protagonists who are hell bent on one upping men around them (if he's a bitter drunk, well he hasn't met Darcy etc etc). A lot of her behavior is obnoxious enough in men (in fiction and IRL) so....maybe it works for some. All in all I was sad I didn't like this one. I wanted to. Normally I enjoy a good snarky character but she was hardly that imo. Would I recommend this to anyone? No. Just no lol unless you're one for toxic a-holes who have a doormat character to abuse and !manipulate then yeah you just might like this one.
In all honesty I had expected this to be much worse based on the reviews it has, which makes the 2 stars feel incredibly generous.
These characters are absolutely insufferable. They are truly perfect for each other simply because no one else would be able to put up with them. Every interaction between them was so incredibly boring and I felt zero chemistry, which is so disappointing because this one had some incredible tropes and the plot had so much potential.
This was a fast paced book that was very easy to get through, which I liked. I also liked the chronic illness representation, but that's about it for the positives for this one.

I really did not like to FMC. She irritated me from the start. I also did not get any real connection and/or tension between the MC's. I do think it was written well.
Darcy was a hilarious badass hiding her hurt and insecurities and I loved her. I wish there was more description of the settings, but Thorne makes up for it with great banter and characters.
Had kind of a rough start but ended cute. Stayed up till 1 am to finish it. Was not as smooth as some of her other books.
Way better than The Hating Game, way better but I still don't like it so much. It's okay but not that okay too. I think I am not a fan of this Sally Thorne but I want to be the fan, that's why I keep reading her books.
Okay, now, I am really confused about how I feel about the characters. Especially Darcy, she was so bitchy but strong, I really don't know. Tom also so confusing, he supposed to be strong protagonist but I couldn't find his strengths in the story. Jamie's mouth was a trash, I don't like the way he talks to Darcy, for no matter reason, even though he is Darcy's twin brother.
But the story was fine and I kinda enjoyed it.
