Meh, wasn't crazy about this one. I found Darcy annoying, Tom annoying, the back-and-forth banter between them annoying... JUST SAY WHAT YOU MEAN, OH MY GOODNESS! So many problems would have been avoided if they were just up front with each other! I also had trouble at times keeping up with the dialogue; I found it confusing and hard to follow. Darcy's constant angst and brattiness was childish, and I just didn't feel attached to any of the characters. Overall this was a miss for me.
I heard great things about [a:Sally Thorne|18002228|Sally Thorne|https://images.gr-assets.com/authors/1526286936p2/18002228.jpg]'s [b:The Hating Game|25883848|The Hating Game|Sally Thorne|https://i.gr-assets.com/images/S/compressed.photo.goodreads.com/books/1467138679l/25883848._SY75_.jpg|45762345] and put it on hold at the library. Then I realized she had a new book out, 99 Percent Mine, and decided to try it while I waited. It was painful.
I have never purposely stopped reading a book, but I just couldn't do it. I read to page 86 hoping that SOMETHING would happen. Alas, it did not. I stopped reading entirely for a week because I just couldn't bring myself to read this book again. So I finally decided I would stop. It was a weight lifted off my shoulders.
I will still try The Hating Game.

Took a very long time to get into it, really didn’t like the writing style / humour for the first like 200 pages, and I thought the jumping around of emotions and atmosphere within single scenes was really confusing. However, overall loved the plot, the characters, the ending!!! It was very cute and wholesome and I really enjoyed it by the end.

Meh. It was okay. The best part was the epilogue for The Hating Game, if I’m being honest.
The characters left a lot to be desired. Darcy wasn’t all that likeable. Neither was Jamie (lying to his twin about her long time crush never reciprocating her feelings was a dick move with no explanation of motive). And Tom was boring.
There were times when the writing seemed very disjointed. Like the author wasn’t typing everything as she was picturing it in her head, leaving me feeling like I’d missed something.
The sophomore slump is real with this one. Sorry, Sally.

So good!!!!! I was nervous because lots of reviews claimed they hated it and it was nothing like her first novel, but I loved it!!!!! Truly a unique little love story!
