The most soulful science fiction read that I have come across... the character developments and the strong roots in psychological concepts make for a truly powerful and evocative read

A deeply philosophical novel about the pain, the excitement, the losses, and the gains of evolutionary progress. I've seen the movie twice, and I loved it both times. However, the book (at the risk of sounding cliche) really does a much better job of illustrating and explaining the symbolism of the "monolith" and its relation to evolution. For example, the movie starts out with a scene of man-apes and the monolith. What exactly is happening in the movie is a bit vague. In the book, we can see inside the character's minds and understand more clearly what's going on and what exactly that scene is about.

Kan eigenlijk niet echt een rating geven of hier iets zinnigs over zeggen omdat ik de film al had gezien voordat ik dit boek las. Het is in ieder geval een interessante aanvulling op de film, die ik nu nog liever opnieuw wil zien.
