Useful, practical financial advice. My dad gave me a copy of the Wealthy Barber when I was 8, so I had to read this.

The bottom line? Live within your means. Live simply. Make informed decisions. Don't take big risks. Start saving right now. I especially like the term "joy units".

More meandering and less compelling than the original, but he admitted that style up front. Still contains some useful tips and humourous anecdotes, but would prefer a rewritten original or "next generation" that would be updated with modern concepts (ETFs, rise of low cost index investing, RESP, TFSAs, etc).

Like the tongue in cheek approach, and seems like sound advice. Can be easily summed up: spend less than you earn! But he does go into what you might do with what you earn. So fixated on retirement, though. And that's a bit depressing! But not he fault we all have to retire, or die trying, one day.

This was a nice update but since the concept was different, I preferred the original.

This book was a good introduction to money management and investing put into easy to understand and engaging voice. It was one of the things that sparked a younger me to be more financially responsible and I'm grateful that I learned that lesson young in life. I probably wouldn't have gotten through the book (at the time) if it wasn't presented in such a fun way.

I read it all in one evening! I found the tone clever and fun, and the book overall an easy read. However, I was looking for more specifics on investing, and the information in this book wasn't of much use to me as I am a saver already.

Is it great literature......No......Should it be........No........Just read the damn thing.

If you are lucky enough that you never have to worry about paying bills our your expenses are too high then don't read the first half......But really make sure you aren't delusional. I mean really ...... Are you spending more money than you should be spending? Then read the second half only....You can do it in a half day.
