Amazing. The post-Covid therapy I needed. Will read again!

I really loved this as an audiobook, read by Gorman herself. This collection of poetry touches upon and explores the human experience and societal implications of the Covid pandemic and the Black Lives Matter movement, as well as other current events. She ties in her work with references to others’ masterfully. It made me reflect on the past five years and what’s to come.
While I didn’t rate this 5 stars, I’m excited to see her grow within future works. Definitely a legend in the making. Recommend as required reading.

I really like her style of writing and look forward to reading more of her works as she grows and progresses in the future. I think I made a mistake by listening to the audiobook, however. I had listened to another poet read his own audiobook, but his style was more designed for spoken word. I think there were some style choices of Gorman's that I would have appreciated better were I looking at the typed words.

I didn't love these poems. They are well written but didn't evoke the emotion from me that I want from poetry.
