I almost dropped it, but glad I stuck with it. I couldn’t put it down near the last half of the book. I was super invested in the storyline and it was cool that one of the MCs was a middle age mom. I should I have read the summary though because the content warnings were devastating to me. Great book, I will pick up the second and be thinking about this for awhile I think.

This one was a slower read for me, but interesting world building and writing style. I don’t know how I feel about the changing perspectives, especially given the reveals later in the book, but it was definitely a unique approach. I’ll be curious to read the next one.

The worldbuilding in this novel is truly out of this world. I kept having to pause to just take it all in (or pause to take notes in fits of inspiration for my own, completely unrelated story).

I loved the non-linear narrative, the three POVs, and how it all slots together in the last stretch. Very clever use of the 2nd person, as it happens. It's also a challenging read in a couple of ways, both technically in that it's dense and high-concept, and also in terms of dark, upsetting content - check those content warnings, ymmv. But even with all that, I found this book a marvel, maybe even a pleasure - albeit a cathartic one, like picking apart a tight knot. Excited to start book 2.
