My rating was 5 stars UNTIL the author tried to create drama by making Tallis do a 180 degree character flip. This is a typical M/F plot device. I need my MCs to stay true in order to like them. It is alright for them to backslide in their development, but not a complete change.

Poor Lex had such a horrible time in high school. My heart broke for him! Tally was such a jerk and bully with even bigger idiots as his family and friends. Years later, when Tally hits hard times, he ends up on Lex's successful door. I liked watching Lex struggle as he tried to reconcile the Jerk Tally he knew before with the Nice Tally now. These two really fit together despite bumps along the way. Definitely want to continue the series to see more of the characters (main and side) from this book.

I really enjoyed this book, much to my surprise.

I thought a story about a jock/bully returning to his hometown was going to be boring and all about redeeming himself but it was rather surprising and refreshing.

The way the author wrote Tally and Lex was very fleshed out and real. I adored their mutual crush on each other and the need for more and more... her twist w/ Brock being such an ass and Tally letting it happen for a while also was very realistic and believable. It was amazing how she wrote the characters and the feel of how they were back in high school seemed very true. It was really good writing.

I liked the portrayal of other characters as well. Especially Drew.

I enjoyed this story; it wasn't complicated or with unnecessary twists and I def. recommend others reading it.
