3.7 AVERAGE

More Tumblr-post based excerpts than poetry. Some of these are good enough life-lessons but nothing that no one has ever heard/known. Could've been better portrayed. Some of the parts felt a bit exaggerated, and I mean this in no disrespect to anything/anyone that the author's writing specifically addresses, it did have potential to do a couple of stars better.

Wow. I feel like I went on a journey through my entire teens/early 20s in under an hour. Reflecting, accepting, laughing, crying, and being inspired. It's been a long time since anything made me feel this way. A must must must read and reread.

My only regret is not buying the physical book. I read this on Kindle and I think it would've been much better on paperback <3

Love how little words she uses in her poems with such great meaning. No offence, but to any saying that it is meaningless or boring its probably just not your thing.

DID NOT FINISH

I think there is a chance that this would have hit differently if I read it when it came out. I think this style of poetry has unfortunately been a bit overdone in the years since so I had a lot of trouble connecting to it without getting frustrated by the form. I also wasn’t expecting it to be so heavy from the first page so I will warn anyone that is trying to decide if they want to read it that it does deal with themes of abuse.

REVIEW FROM 2019:
i must admit it was hard to get through it. some poems were tough to swallow and heartbreaking to read and for those to be shared with the world is incredibly brave. i admire and look up to the honesty, the rawness of the brutal and ugly truth she shared (especially in the hurting and the breaking) because it takes a certain strength and resilience to publish words as personal and intimate. some, more soft spoken and sweet, were the ones that hit close to home and made a special place in my heart. minimalism is a hot new topic and it not only works wonders on homes but it clearly opens up a new door for creativity in poetry.
it is a must read especially for speaking out about women's truth and empowering it and for showing others the other side of the story. it is, although, a 4.5.

THOUGHTS FROM 2022:
simply said, this is not poetry.
