This book hurt. Rarely do books made me cry. Unfortunately, this one did. This book may not be for everyone, but I fear this was both the best and worst time for me to read it. The first chapter made me sick beyond words, but that may have needed to happen. I knew it would be an uphill battle as soon as I really understood what this book is about. But I made it through it, and I feel like that says a lot about life in general.

And to those who hate this book, I have to assume you are not the target audience.

Many of the poems were beautiful, lyrical, and forced me to pause as the words seeped into my bones.

The rest felt like they were written by 2012 Tumblr with too much access to the enter key.

The poems cover several topics, both heavy and inspiring. I could absolutely see this book being an important first step into someone's understanding of trauma and abuse, being an artist, and feminine self-love

I am also a sucker for doodles in a poetry collection! They added a genuine-ness and human-ness to the words on the page.

What the heck did I just read ???

Strong and positive message conveyed on a easy to read/understand/relate poetry. Specially helpful for those healing from a breakup.

So I got this book this morning for my birthday and I was so excited because of all the hype surrounding it. I think all that hype ruined it a little bit for me. There were pieces that I couldn't relate to and others that I related to so much that it was like a closed wound opening again. I have a like/dislike relationship with it right now.

Just a little content warning: I think people who read this should be 15+. There is a lot of content about rape and sex so just please be mindful.

This collection blends poetry and prose into raw reflections on love, pain, healing, and self-discovery. The simplicity of the language makes it accessible and often relatable, with certain lines hitting with honesty and clarity.
However, much of it feels repetitive and, at times, overly minimalistic—more like fragments of thought than fully developed poems. While the themes are important and resonate with many, the execution didn’t always hold my attention or leave a lasting impact.
Overall, a mixed experience: a few striking moments, but not enough depth or variety to make it a standout for me.

I didn’t like this book. I am not in any way an expert in poetry, but this just looked like sencentes without capitals and punctuations. It had a lot of different important subjects, but it just didn’t speak to me. There were just a few poems that I actually liked a little bit.

Absolutely amazing poems!
