My first foray in the Omegaverse and it was... not for the faint of heart. If you're looking for a gentle, tender romance, keep it moving. This book ain't it. Very graphic descriptions of physical and sexual abuse. I loved that Morgaine was rebellious throughout the many attempts to shame and break her willful spirit. This book might have benefited from more worldbuilding. There were some questions I never got answers for. Why the were Alpha's at war and such. The 'hero', Simin' doesn't appear until midway through the book but she's quite mentally scarred by then. He endeared himself to me by putting aside his very 'pressing needs' and then takes her to a sanctuary of sorts for help. I love his gift toward the end. But it ended on a small cliffhanger. I'm looking forward to reading more from AC.

This was sooo good. I am loving this! I was so engrossed with this book,I couldn't put it down. I feel like Simin is going to be my favorite. I can't wait to read the next book. I highly recommend. Definitely going to reread

Rowling|https://images.gr-assets.com/books/1474154022s/3.jpg|4640799], this was my first foray into fantasy or PNR. It wasn't really fantasy, per say; it was more alternate universe, with some spaceships and other planets involved. For me, it was a good way to ease myself into books like this, because it wasn't OOT. It wasn't super-dark, nor was it overly complicated in regards to the universe and its customs or traditions. The plot was simple in its execution but also suspenseful and surprising at times. Also, while I didn't always understand the heroine, I absolutely LOVED the hero!

There had been no love in any Alpha action Morgaine had ever seen. Even this one had already threatened her, yanked at her hair, and made demands. That’s all Alphas did: take and harm. They didn’t know how to love.

Morgaine is taken from her home early in the book. She is an Omega, which she (and the nursery rhymes she heard as a child) views as awful. She had avoided detection up to this point, but the pain was becoming excruciating and she was taken by Alphas. Morgaine loves her mom dearly, so she was mourning without her. I felt for Morgaine; we hear only her POV for well over the first half of the book, and her outlook is by no means positive. It's tough to read at times- triggers for dubcon, noncon, and everything in between- but something happens around mid-book that turns everything around. I wasn't expecting it, and it was even more awesome because of that, so I don't want to give anything away. What I will say is the hero made this book. If you have a softness for a man that mates for life and will do anything for that mate, I highly recommend this book. I personally wouldn't even call him an anti-hero, especially if you consider him in relation to other Alphas. His POV is sprinkled in towards the end, and I was done for. I was not expecting to fall in love like I did! It took some getting used to the sex, because it was more mechanical, with details I didn't quite understand, but it was somehow still hot- probably because of the male involved. I will definitely read more of this author; I was late to the bandwagon, but I'm jumping onboard!

This male conquered with cleverness, not violence. And though he ran his hand carefully over her throat and collarbones, he didn’t paw.

She inspired an impressive, and it would seem necessary, amount of noise to echo from his ribs to sing her into a state of calm. So much more docile in sleep, he adored every last inch of her. She did not tense as he tasted her body, she did not smell of fear. No, she smelled like sunshine.

She required so much more than wooing. She needed a spiritual conqueror and a physical presence between her thighs. And by the higher power, he had taken on that mantle with a vengeance.

Definitely one of my favorite omegaverses, but doesn’t have everything think that I like. I found the beginning, and pretty much the first half, to be way too long and almost pointless. You can basically skip over the entire first half and not only will you understand, but you will probably have a better reading experience.

Morgaine was a good character, but she had more potential than what was used. She was smart and resourceful, but was reduced to nothing. If you are going to introduce a powerful character, let them wield that power, if not just make them naturally weaker. That’s a lot better in my opinion.

Simin was a great hero in the last quarter, but other than that he was okay. I really liked how caring he was and how he tried to learn Morgaine’s language. I liked that he was a traditionalist, but able to change his ways for Morgaine.

Definitely would recommend if you like omegaverse, or even sci-fi romance!

M/F Omegaverse. Morgaine's character did not mature. Simin was initially arrogant and callous, but he did redeemed himself.

Putting aside Morgaine's ignorance, illiteracy, low technology, mental programming by the Nierran, she was low IQ. Morgaine should have blossomed after Simin turned her over to the Omega sector to help with her rehabilitation. Unfortunately, she was unable to comprehend her omega biology, space travel level technology, her abuse by the Nierran, her own primitive suppressed culture, and the new Omari society. Yes, Morgaine improved, but only to a low functioning level.

Weak relationship development. No world building.

One of my favorites for sure!

If the heroine found a way to utterly destroy both civilizations, as far-fetched idea as it is with the disparity in technology between her culture and that of the invaders, I'd be willing to read on, but this way... no. I'd also love it if the Omegas did their own thing, and made sure she never returned to the alpha. Sadly, that is not the case.

Very steamy romance!

I really enjoyed this book. I have only read omega stories on fanfiction, never in an actual book. I was excited to read this and it did not disappoint. The beginning was a little sad, I felt so bad for Morgain. The alphas really twisted her ideas of what an alpha should be and broke her mentally. I'm so happy Simin found her and was patient and willing to do what was best for her. He was actually really sweet and will make a great partner for her. I wish the 2nd book was out already!
