A treatise on women’s anger and the power we hold and relinquish with or against it. Filled with scholarly research, touching anecdotes and stories of historically mad women, this book sheds a light on the real importance of channeling righteous rage into acts of understanding and change. I was particularly moved by the chapter on rage and pain. Living with a chronic pain disorder and bouts of debilitating depression and anxiety, I know firsthand the vicious feedback loop of symptoms and medical negligence causing anger and pain, and uncontrolled pain causing ever more distressing emotional disregulation. Thank you, Soraya, for seeing and explaining the confusing and powerful emotion that defines so many women throughout history.

this made me angry, which i rather think was the whole point. very lucid analysis of the social reality of women’s anger and what the motivations behind it are, broken down into digestible chunks and backed by intersectional studies.

I felt like really only the beginning and end of the book actually talked about women’s anger, while the entire middle talked about inequity/gender specific challenges women face/etc - which was still informative and enraging (though nothing unique that isn’t covered in Invisible Women or other feminist books) but I wish it’d kept with the titled theme
