"Saari veti henkeä". Catherine Doylen sanailu ja kuvailu on upeaa. Kuinka hienosti Arranmoren maagista saarta kuvataan.

Fionn, valittu lapsi, on saanut harteilleen painavan taakan kannettavakseen. Jäämme mielenkiinnolla odottamaan jatkoa.

Lapset antoivat tälle neljä tähteä, samaan pisteytyksen yhdyn minäkin.

There were too many similes, but by the end of the book I didn’t even care and in fact completely forgot to be distracted by it. The story is imaginative and unique and completely absorbing. I really enjoyed it and can’t wait for the next book!

I cannot possibly put into words how much I loved and enjoyed this book! I would not be at all surprised to see Fionn Boyle’s name become as popular as Percy Jackson or Harry Potter. The story was full of mystery, adventure and Irish magic!

Olipas kaikinpuolin lupsakan sympaattinen fantasiatarina! Jatko-osa menee ehdottomasti lukulistalle! Tästä syntyi kyllä kaukokaipuu matkustaa jonnekin tuulen tuivertamalle saarelle istumaan kalliolle jussipaidassa teetä juomaan ja myrskypilviä ihailemaan!

A very sweet and well-paced children's book. Fionn was a great protagonist and I feel the author did a good job of capturing the thoughts and feelings of an eleven-year-old. The story unfolded at a good pace and Arranmore's many secrets kept me interested until the end. The highlight was definitely Fionn's grandfather, who was exceptionally kind and wise, and his relationship with Fionn developed beautifully throughout the story.

I would say that this book is incredibly sad in moments and deals with a variety of touchy subjects like the loss of a parent, mental health issues and Fionn's grandfather's ailing memory. The book is packed with adventure with good vs evil at the core of it. The worldbuilding was done really well and Arranmore felt alive to me while I was reading.

On the whole, my experience of reading 'The Storm Keeper's Island' was enjoyable and I would certainly recommend to fans of middle-grade fiction.

One of the best magical realism middle grade books I've read in a while. Definitely going to Bunge the rest of the trilogy now 🙂
