There was not a lot of plot development in terms of their romance.

I received an ARC in exchange for my honest review.

I am a big fan of second chance trope, so I'm pretty disappointed in this one. However, I finished reading the book so it does have some good qualities.

First, the writing is generally good. The settings and characters are well developed for the most part. The pace is not too slow and I didn't feel like it drags along which is impressive when I am not a fan of the story.

I think the weakest part is Paige, Lara's ex, as I feel like I don't really know her at all. Just bits here and there, but not enough to make me care for her. The love triangle between them and Kerry feel too superficial and obvious that it was just an obstacle to move the story along.

Another issue I had is with the details in the romance developing. There's no details in the physical affections. I don't need sex scenes to make it good, but I do like to read more than "they kissed." There's too much of telling how they feel, than show how they feel.

The side characters are my favorite part of the story. Betty, Lara's grandmother, is awesome and I just love her. Alice is a sweetheart and a great friend to Lara. Her obsession with building the float is pretty funny.

Overall, this novel is okay, but I expect better from this author. Her previous novel was way much better than this one. Hopefully she can learn and do better with next novel.
