i truly thought it would be harder to get into this book since it moves so fast through time but i LOVED it. i feel like it still focused on characters enough that it drew me in & the dance of dragons made me so anxious that i actually had to take a break from reading. justice for my crazy targ women

Wow, this one is for the history books. I loved learning about each generations of the Targaryens, I wish the part about Aegon's conquest was a little bit longer though. King Jaeherys I was my favourite (alongside his Queen Alysanne; the Dance of Dragons was also very interesting but moslty bloody and sad. I wish that the last 80 pages or so focused more on the Broken King instead of external affairs such as the Lys problems, otherwise this is a great book about the history of the Targaryens and very well told.

woke up and thought "hmmm i should finish this book before breakfast" and man was that a good idea. i am now ready to seize the day knowing that i finished a long ass book (and will be reading the main series afterwards).
this book was as insane as aerys II. the first half of the book was hella slow but i did enjoy jaehaerys and alysanne's reign on the kingdom, they were my favorites.
and when i reached the point where HOTD starts, that's when i got really hooked on the book.
SO MANY SPOILERS AND I NEED TO BE CHAINED.
all in all, good book. long and tedious to read but nonetheless good.
