There are very few books that on the first read I know it will be a book I read again and again, this is one of those. Ari's thoughts and letters hold so much in them, so much that could be meditated on even. This may be labeled as a YA but this book holds depth far beyond justa YA audience.

This was a nice continuation of the story of Aristotle and dante. In a way this is a less intimate continuation as it included the worldly at the time of the novel including AIDS. However the author did try to keep the intimacy with journal entries from ari. This was definitely a slower paced book than the first

Very different tone to the last, though with such a gap between books it's to be expected. Especially felt it because of how it picked up exactly where the last left off & reading the books back to back for the first time. Felt like the characters had very quick and unearned switch ups at times.

Also, having a character called Cassandra giving ominous prophecies everyone brushed off made me Stressed. Threaded undertones of dark scary things that maybe did 't weight they should've in the story

almost DNF'd, really glad i didn't 

this sequel was kinda unnecessary in my opinion but it was beautiful. ari has one of the most beautiful character arcs i've ever read. the first one is still miles better but i still thoroughly enjoyed this!

Aristotle and Dante Dive into the Waters of the World picks up immediately where the first book left off. On the same magical night. Our heroes are happy and in love and have found their voices in the world but knowing what comes next is the hard part. 

These books are beautiful, the characters are intellectual, the relationships with parents and family are based on love and honesty and seeing each other as people and they are honestly so refreshing. 

The questions they ask, the things they struggle wih are real and tangible. Falling in love with another boy at the height of the AIDS epidemic of the 1980s and having to hide yourself for fear of persecution, I thought about these things a lot as I read them. (Arguably I read the first book in one sitting cover to cover!) 

These are gorgeous books and if you haven't read them yet I suggest you do!
