I enjoyed this book, just not quite as much as the first book in the series! Prose and Cons probably falls around 4-4.5 stars for me. I'm excited to keep reading the series.

This book felt lighter in the sense that I was flying through it every time I picked it up, yet I didn't feel super "in" the story. The first book seemed to capture me a bit more with the environment and characters. This book still had some of that charm, but I think I was just expecting a bit more. I enjoyed the mystery in this one and the way it was set up. This would have been a cozy Fall read, but I couldn't bring myself to wait that long to read it!

I'm hooked on the setting and I want to get to know the characters even more, so I'm excited to start the next book in the series. Same as before, I love the magical elements and I hope to see even more of them in the next book.

These books could use a good editor - like I know it's the Food and Wine Festival, she doesn't need to use the full title every single time, that's not how people naturally think or talk. Buuuut the setting is charming as hell, the mysteries are solid, and the characters are likable. So I can happily overlook the little grammatical errors and occasionally stilted dialogue. Onto #3!

Love this story! I love her cat, Emerson, and his funny little cattitude! I like how she reacts to the Detective and their budding romance. The way he reacts to her tree is interesting and I can’t wait to see where that goes in #3.

My favorite character is her Violet. She’s nice and seems like the kind of person I would be friends with.

Better than the first one…I like the story, but does Amanda Flower know that it’s okay to use pronouns instead of names sometimes?

Another charming entry in the Magical Bookshop series.

Anastasia (rude lady) in the Red Inkers club is found dead at the bottom of the stairs in Charming Books.
Turns out the vintage dress from Sadie's shop she was wearing had liquid nicotine on it and that likely lead to her falling down the stairs to her death. Sadie also vaped and it is missing so she's been framed!

Food and Wine Festival in town. Mysterious gray haired guitar player roaming around and knows Violet's name. Fenimore James. Later on he says he is her Dad.

Anastasia threatened to blackmail Sadie about plagiarizing in college.

Emerson sneaks into Anastasia's house only to discover a hidden writing room that exposed Anastasia as one of the most famous romance novelists. She also has a folder of 'evidence' which has a list of secrets about the Red Inkers including the tree on Charming Books.

Anastasia has a brother but turns out he inherits nothing because she left everything to charity. Plus he was in NJ when she was offed!

At the meeting of the Inkers after the death, Truly says Anastasia was a hypocrite because she ridiculed everyone for writing fiction when she was making bang off it.  Dun... dun... dun... it wasn't exposed she was Evanna Blue until after her death! Then she pulls a gun. Says the nicotine was just supposed to make her goofy so she embarrassed herself at the Poe-try reading. Truly (retired teacher) is dying from lung cancer and blackmailed Ana to talk to her publisher so she could get published before she dies.
