I kept pushing through hoping that it would get better and it just didn’t. This is the most millennial cringe book I’ve ever read. The characters are all obnoxious and immature. I just can’t keep reading this.

Soothed me but I do have some complaints namely that they comfort each other through a panic or tragedy approximately every chapter and that their characterizations weren’t different enough so I sometimes couldn’t tell when it would switch POV.

Pepper and Opal’s story is unflinchingly messy. These two polar opposites, a sunshine/grumpy pair, shouldn’t work but it turns out that all their differences complement each other in all the right ways. Mazey Edding’s writing is hilarious, heartfelt, and achingly honest. I highly recommend this book for all lovers of sapphic romance!!

I don't find that opening a book with "oh, poor character" is a way to hook me at all. Opal's too put-upon, too much of a doormat, too long-suffering--the narrative and exposition wants me to feel bad for her so much, but I don't know who she is or why I should care that she's such a sad sack.
