I tend to stray away from grief-driven books (i’m a mess and I sob), but I loved the way that it was portrayed in this story. It was real and raw and rather thought-provoking.

I will say the only thing holding me back from giving it a solid 4* was the romantic-development. I feel as though the revelations were rushed and underdeveloped in the present-time. Like, so much changes in 7 years (as we saw), but the present-relationship did not develop with that 7-year mark, if that makes sense.

It was acknowledged that they’ve changed and that’s normal, but there was no appreciation for getting to know this new person in the present - more like an assumption that they’re welcome to this new person, and will automatically be compatible.

This was so much more than just a love story! I started this book expecting a super light, romance-only kind of plot and boy was I wrong.

I really appreciated how the book portrays Clementine's life in much more depth than most other romance books I've read in the past. It touches on friendship, career, loss of a loved one and finding happiness as a 30 something year old woman in the modern world (with a bonus theme on food). And then there's obviously the romance and magic!
