My knowledge of golf is basic but I enjoyed the stories anyway.
i liked some of these stories (the clicking of cuthbert especially) but i found others a little slow or boring. I think i preferred The Heart of a Goof over this collection
The Clicking of Cuthbert by P.G. Wodehouse has penned a charming book made up of stories about golf and golfers. The characters are the usual assortment of his delightful personalities who are in the throes of some dilemma. More often than not, a fair maiden is involved, and a happy conclusion is reached in the end. Paul Cox’s illustrations are lovely and fitting for this period. They’re very Quentin Blake-esque.
It was my first PGW. I liked it. It wasn't all that funny as I had expected it to be. Or maybe I am too young? I am reminded of a line from it : "Golf like measles should be caught young."
He he...
Anyway, in the foreword, (titled Fore!)PGW said that it was a time when he was bleeding or something. His life must have been in ruins. ANyway, he said that we should appreciate him if we found anything amusing in the book. He also shared a critic's letter which pointed out a mistake which PGW had deliberately made. And now I am reminded of the goddamn long sentences of his! There is many a time when a sentence turns out to be a paragraph!

Hilarious book about human nature set in a fantasy world--or, perhaps, a parallel universe where political correctness is not an issue: at least, that is the spirit in which I read the book.
I know nothing about golf except what I've learned from reading this book: apparently it's a non-virtual-reality version of a video game which tracks (in a mysterious manner) the improvement in skill of the player.
During my visit to The Clicking of Cuthburt, I found myself snorting with surprise at the witty twists Wodehouse throws into the story.
A nice break from reality.

Like all short story collections, some of these were stronger than others. But like all Wodehouse, all of them were funny.
