This book was wonderfully written and I absolutely loved it!
Elinor and Marianne’s characters both felt so real and made it so easy to sympathize with them and their situations.
I was surprised how much I ended up loving characters that I didn’t like that much at the beginning. Colonel Brandon, for example, seemed so dull to me at the beginning, but as he grew closer to the Dashwood’s and I learned more about him I ended up loving him so much. There was a brief period where I thought he would end up with Elinor, and I kind of wanted him to. I just felt like they got so close and had a bond that he and Marianne just didn’t have. I am happy with how the book ended, though.
Mrs. Jennings was a character I couldn’t stand at the beginning. She was such a busy body and was just so irritating, but she was so kind and loyal to the girls and the concern she showed for Marianne while her health was declining just made me really like her. It really helped balance out her annoying qualities.
On the flip side, I loved Willoughby at first. Like absolutely loved him. He was fun and charming and he seemed great with Marianne. By the end of the book, I didn’t even feel bad for him when he went and explained everything to Elinor and told her how horrible he felt.
This book had just the right amount of humor and heartbreak and it was just so good. It was the second Jane Austen book I’ve read and I cannot wait to read more of her works in the future.

This book is centered arround the Dashwood sisters. Marianne who represents the sensibility and Elinor who represents the sense. Its definitely a character driven book and I found Elinor character amazing. Oh, I also liked how Jane Austen expressed her opinion about men and men behaviour in a very subtle way, I found this to be very brave of her considering how men were in control of everything at the time. Oh, and I hated Willoughby, what a jerk.

A funny and sad book about the different ways men can dick over women.I would like to have a talk with Jane Austen about marrying teenage girls to grown ass men. Colonel Brandon was 35 and Mary Anne was 16 why the fuck was he interested in her get the fuck away I can't believe they got married after Mary Anne expressed how much she didn't want him and wanted to marry for love. I guess its realistic or whatever but it was framed like a happy ending when it so wasn't.
Moderate: Adult/minor relationship
