Written by a Christie later in her career and seemingly dismayed to distraction by the world around her (The teenagers and their strange new clothes! Going around in cars! Necking!), but nevertheless an interesting double mystery with a chilling conclusion.

Huge Christie stan here but this just didn't do anything for me. The implied theme and the resulting title could've been expanded... no one here was likeable [except for Hercule]... the mystery felt like a retread of a much better Christie... yup this one is largely uninspired... did recall that Agatha got tired of Hercule after a point in time... is this book at that stage... also Ariadne is such an annoying sidekick haha... [i know she is based on Agatha/herself but still]
Anyways the highlight of the book for me was when i thought Hercule was gonna come out as gay because a male's beauty took his breath away. Hilarious
