Hallowe'en Party

Agatha Christie

3.39 AVERAGE

This isn't one of Christie's best, but it is still worth reading if you like Agatha Christie's novels, particularly those featuring Hercule Poirot. This one also features Ariadne Oliver, and it's definitely fun to read.

The solution feels a bit rushed, I think, but it did make sense. I enjoyed the characters, and the premise was intriguing.

Pretty good! Wasn’t what I was expecting. First Christie book I’ve read in which the victim was so young, also. Was fun meeting Ariadne Oliver! 3.5 ⭐️.

First half: ⭐⭐⭐.5
- I got the feeling Agatha Christie was rather critical of modern day society

Second half: ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐
- felt like a movie
- really clever, I've never predicted the outcome of any of her books but got partly right here but despite this there were still massive bombshells

Not the best Christie I've read, but it was OK.

Hugh Fraser did an excellent job as narrator, although his Ariadne Oliver voice annoyed me. I love the Ariadne Oliver character so this bothered me more than it probably should have. This is an older, more cynical Christie, but I chose it due to the season (bring on the spooky / autumnal reads!) and it did not disappoint.

Re-read/listen, fun on audio. Like many later Agatha Christie books she really has some specific societal bones to pick lol, it is very "kids these days with their mental health and their murder." Still fun.
