Hallowe'en Party

Agatha Christie

3.39 AVERAGE

A classic Agatha Christie, and the plot was adapted for a Haunting in Venice. Christie fills this with lots of generational angst as the old folks wring their metaphorical hands whining about “kids today” in the 1960s. Poirot figures it out quite early in the book, and I feel like an idiot for not figuring it out too. I realize now the same feint was used in one of the 12 “Marple” stories that came out a couple years back. From there, Poirot is still interviewing people so he can someone who is still in danger and why. The fantastic ending is very “the kids are all right”, showing they are quite useful when the old folks plot evil.

Very good halloween themed murder party , very good twists and turns .

solid 4 stars

After years of watching Hercule Poirot solve crimes, I have slowly started reading Agatha Christie's Poirot portfolio.

Hugh Fraser does a wonderful job of narrating the story.

This book had an interesting mystery in it. I did want to solve it, but I don’t think the clues were there for me to piece it together myself. The issue I had with this book is that I’m not a huge fan of Agatha’s writing style. I had to re-read things a few times for them to sink in. This is nothing against her, it’s just my own personal preference.

I thoroughly enjoyed reading this book.. I recently watched the film 'A Haunting in Venice' and I enjoyed both of these stories separately. The book is brilliant and Agatha Christie does so well to create scene and setting in her stories. Plus Poirot as a character is just fun!

This book was very slow for me, but I did enjoy the overall story. I think the ending was predictable. The characters were interesting and entertaining. Just overall, it's very mid. Would probably not recommend it. The movie is vastly different from the book, which shocked me. I actually liked the movie better.

Purely a middle of the road Christie novel. It was fairly predictable if you're paying attention, but the journey is still fun.

Not my favorite Agatha Christie novel; it was just okay. Took a roundabout way to get to the end but everything tied up nice and neat in classic Poirot fashion.

I normally love Agatha Christie, but this one was just ok. I did read it in a day, so it totally kept me engaged, but there were just so many unanswered questions. It also just kind of ends with an odd last line. The mystery was good and it is for sure a reflection of the time it was written with all the hand wringing about the youth of the time.
