Another solid Grisham lawyer novel. I wish he'd taught my wills and trusts class.

I gave this book 5 stars... Wow! Better than "A Time to Kill", John Grisham's first novel! As I read, I could picture Matthew McConaughey as Jake Brigance, Donald Sutherland as Lucien, etc. A must read for all Grisham fans!

I liked Jake more in this book. Also, while just as long it felt more focused.

3.5 Stars. Grisham continues his late-era dominance. There are moments where it feels over-long, but for the most part the story moves at a brisk pace. It speaks to Grisham's narrative brilliance that he can make a will dispute compelling and tense. I was genuinely surprised by this one.

Our neighbor across the street here in North Texas has a row of American Sycamore trees that I despise because of their "button-ball" one inch brown ball fruit which litter the neighborhood along with their Autumn leaves! I also cannot envision such trees are suitable for a lynching as imagined in this novel.
I learned much more than I cared to about the extensive legal wranglings that may be encountered in the legal probate of a holographic will and testament that has been entirely handwritten and signed by the testator!

i love grisham's story telling and thought this one was great. i also liked that it was cleaner than his usual tales.
