The usual engaging story from John Grisham -- the observations about how a jury is selected and reacts to proceedings gives food for thought. It is interesting how groups make decisions.
Seth Hubbard hangs himself from a Sycamore tree and leaves almost everything behind to his black housekeeper. Why does he make this series of decisions? Well, we find out from reading until the end, but be warned, you have a long way to get there.
I'm not annoyed by the book's length as much as its pacing. Obviously, there are times where you need to stretch things out. But in this case, everything came speeding at the end, which made it intriguing, but the marathon may have been more worth it if the mad dash were more spread out.

Yes I predicted the ending right away, but I still love Grisham's writing style.
I relished the thought of reading about Jake Brigance, and finding out what happens to his life after A Time to Kill. And it's been so long since Grisham published a Brigance novel (forever encapsulated as Matthew McConaughey in my mind). Sycamore Row starts off with much promise, but somehow, it meanders through pages and pages of a plot that is just too weighty. But yes, it ends with a nice twist. And if it ever gets made into a film with McConaughey as Brigrance again, I'd be the first to catch it :)

This is the perfect character follow up. Not a true sequel but a catch up to loved characters. Jake is a great character and the secondary characters are fun, lovable and you can truly hate the villains.
If you read a lot of grisham the story is slightly predictable but non the less engaging.
Recommend for any Grisham lover
