It's been awhile since I read Grisham. I had stopped at one point because it started feeling the same. It was nice to be back with my old "friends" Jake Brigance, Harry Rex Vonner, and Judge Atlee. Good read.
Realistic probate battle plus a bit of history
I haven't read a John Gresham novel since I was admitted to practice law a decade ago. The legal part is surprisingly realistic (and therefore boring to me). good story and history lesson though it's easy to figure out where it's going.

I was worried how this one would follow up “ a time to kill” and it was such a good follow up. Really loved checking back in with Jake, Harry Rex, & Lucien. The final court room twists will always be one of my favorite things about Grisham.
Good story, grabs you right from the beginning and keeps you questioning throughout the story. A little anticlimactic compared to his best sellers, but still worth the read.
Loved this! Mr. Grisham can always count on my for an audience but I'm usually disappointed in the endings of his book. Not enough to stop reading his books but enough to where I expect it. I was happy that the ending of this book was much more satisfying. I enjoyed revisiting the characters of A Time To Kill and I loved the expected Grisham twists and turns but I must admit that Ancil's story didn't surprise me. Fun read.

Good read. It was a bit slow getting through it, but WELL worth getting to the end. Quite the twist.
Not sure why this is the number one bestseller right now. It was predictable from the beginning and while an interesting story just not that well written.
Kind of fun to catch up with Jake Brigance after so many years. Fun plot with some good twists and dramatic moments. Interesting to read this take on small town law and racial dynamics in the south in today's context of the recent hate crime murders of the nine in Charleston, SC and the subsequent outcry against the confederate flag.
