A really great book from John Grisham. It reminded me a lot of his earlier writings. I highly recommend this book to anyone who has read John's books.
Love having characters return a couple of years later.... The twists and turns of this Grisham novel keep you on your toes. I enjoy how this series is addressing institutional racism...
I really wanted to like this story as I am normally a huge fan of John Grisham. I gave it around 150 pages and just had to put it down. I will try again another time.
It was a good read, but completely predictable. I get that the end was supposed to be a surprise, but it really didn't end up that way. Most of the book is spent dropping, what I think was meant to be, subtle hints about what happened in the past leading up to a dramatic reveal in the end. Sadly, it ended up being exactly what I thought it was going to be nearly the entire story and it made the reveal and ending anticlimactic.
I did not care for A Time to Kill but this book was good! It’s not a official sequel so it can be read as a standalone book. A little slow in some places and some who aren’t familiar with probate legal jargon may find it a bit overwhelming but I am so I thought it was excellent.

It was fun to get back to Jake and small town Mississippi. This is not Grisham's best work, but it was interesting and satisfying read.

I had stopped reading John Grisham’s books because they all seemed the same. I thought I would give this one a try since it had Jake Brigance in it.
This book was painfully slow. It didn’t pickup until the last 50 pages.
