I read this book in almost one sitting. I couldn't help it! I loved the characters, and the way that their emotions were described. I am also really big on Revenge plots and sad ghost stories and stories where the wronged ghost gets their closure and this book has all of those things. I can't wait to share this with my friends!

Holy Hell you guys, this book was AMAZING. I think I devoured it in 3 hours (sobbing the entire time) but it was SO GOOD. Obvious TW for gun violence, and also domestic violence.

I wasn't just crying from sadness though, I was crying from the love between characters, from the bright womanly anger, from feeling my heart beat in tandem with people around the world who have suffered, who find solace and understanding in this story.

And also, because I know, and hope, that I have friends who love me like Cass, Vivian, and Becks. Because I have a Becks who would burn down the world for me, and what a feeling of love that is.

Seriously go read this.

If the hero dies, they call
it a Greek tragedy,
but when the heroine dies,
it's a romance.

This book was not as compelling as the author's debut novel, If These Wings Could Fly - which is one of my all-time favourite books. The pacing was a bit off here and there, with a few characters still underdeveloped, nonetheless, this is a powerful story about gun control, toxic relationships and strong friendships. The writing is top-notch and the author's effort in shining light on a serious issue is commendable.

But I think maybe
to be a girl in this world
sometimes you have to burn.
