3.0

I received an advance review copy for free, and I am leaving this review voluntarily.

These books are getting 3.5 out of 5 stars from me.

There were parts of this story that I greatly enjoyed, at least in the 3 different books. I enjoyed the idea that this was based on Arthurian legend. However, there were times in these books where I felt the story dragged on, or that there were some parts of it that didn't make sense, even when reading the other books in this series.

There was a mix of different languages and dialects that made parts of the books a bit confusing for me. Especially the use of old English and Southern accents, Texas. I was surprised to find that there was a glossary for some of the terms in the back of the book, which I discovered a bit too late to help me, but hopefully this will help others who read it in the future.

There were times in the story, where I feel like the author was trying to combine too many different stories into one to try and make a convincing story, but I felt if it was just Arthurian legend and maybe one or two others perhaps I would have felt less confused.

Most of the characters, we either got too much information about, or not enough information, perhaps I read the books too fast for everything to full sink in. Perhaps on a more relaxed reading I'll be able to pick up more information.

Out of all the characters, I enjoyed Jo and James the best, even though they don't really do much in the story until the 3rd book in the series.

The book is about Jessamine and her mysterious and at times, convoluted past. I wish I could say that I enjoyed her in all three books, I did enjoy her character as she tries to find out more about who she and her family is.

The first book was enjoyable and my favorite in the series, the second one was fairly decent, but I felt that the last few chapters in the last book were a bit rushed and too much happened at once and some things were skipped over or abridged to get to the conclusion.

I will read this series again, whenever I can get to it, perhaps by then, I will enjoy this a bit more and will be able to change my rating of this.

I will though, be on the lookout for when the 4th book of the series comes out, so that way, I can find out what happens to the characters.
