I really need to start abandoning books. 😵‍💫 This was just not a good book. One of the most egregious parts of this was (CONTENT WARNING FATPHOBIA)
all of the diet and weight loss talk!!! It did NOT need to be there AT ALL, it did not further the plot, and it was used to make the main character and her friend try to relate to each other? So regressive and truly just handled in a gross way.
The dialogue was the second most egregious part. Random time-bound slang like “spill the tea” thrown in with 40s phrases like “Say, could you…”; exposition about things that have *already happened* repeated in dialogue… 😩 Not to mention that the romance aspect of this was trite and unbelievable. I mostly wanted to write this review to share the content warning above because it was unexpected and kept returning when I least expected it.

The overall story was super cute but a lot of it felt rushed. There were a lot of weird weight comments throughout that made me want to DNF and some of the language was also pretty cringey (96yr old saying “spill the tea”).

I did end up finishing it but this could’ve been a more put together book.
