The Unteachables

Gordon Korman

4.25 AVERAGE

The Unteachables is a heart-warming story about a class of misfits who learn that they aren’t as unteachable as people might think.

This was a wonderful and uplifting story about not selling kids short. I really enjoyed this book. I wish this kind of story was reality.

This book isn't just for kids, it's for every teacher who works with them. Love a book that makes you laugh and cry.

3.5/5 actually.

Middle grade books can mend your heart.

This is my third book by Gordon Korman, who has written about 90 books like this one, How great is that?
This is about a depressed teacher suffering from the aftermath of a scandal, and special not-so-studious class called the unteachables -they're called scs-8 actually but no one calls them that- who, combined together, save each others' lives.

It's not my favorite book by Gordon Korman, but it's still blissful and soft, it made me feel good after an awful day.
I hope it makes it to the goodreads choice awards, I'd consider voting for it.

I loved this book so much and can't wait to add it to my classroom library

Oh, I loved this book so much. It was the perfect read for Christmas Break, when I’ve been so burned out on teaching already ... just like Mr. Kermit! Students and teachers alike will enjoy this one!

I recently read another book that was similar to this one that I loved so I started off reading this not wanting to like it. But I ended up loving this book instead. Being a teacher and having a book about students who love and motivate their teacher to be the best he can be is just amazing. I can relate to the students in this book as I have ones similar to each of them. Sometimes I am Ms. Fountain- too full of new, little kid ideas for my older students. Other times I am Mr. Kermit- trying to not let kids break through to me. I just hope that I can make a difference for kids. This book had me laughing out loud many times. Highly recommend this book for both teachers and students alike.
funny inspiring lighthearted fast-paced

3 1/2 stars rounded up to 4- because how cute is this?! Solid character growth. Good humor. Conflict and catastrophe and warm fuzzies. Good read!

I adore Korman but this book takes the cake and I can’t wait for my students to read it! So many emotions throughout this book, especially reading it as a teacher! I laughed, was angry and for sure had a few tears (YES, with a Korman book!) I love that this book shows kids you don’t have to be labeled “smart” to have SMARTS and accomplish things!

read it months ago, and forgot to mark it as read

I had had high expectations? I love restart, slacker, i want to go home, and this can't be happening at macdonald hall. So i thought i'd love this one too?

But it's just not as good as I was hoping for
