I had to force myself through the first half, but luckily it picked up and got interesting in the second. A lot of the chapters seemed to be there just to reach a word count. It's not as good as the first book but the ending makes me want to read more.

Even better than the first one I think. Our view of the present-day mythological world expands to include more dilemmas and ambiguities. Also very funny in parts and with some great action scenes.

I forgot to put this in here when I started reading it to my son, we didn't actually do it all in one day. In fact we had to have times when we couldn't read it because he was feeling fragile. When he's robust and not anxious about other things (therefore prone to nightmares if there's anything scary just before bed) then Percy Jackson books are his very favourite. He likes the first better than this one, though.

It was very slow to start, and I wasn't nearly as engaged with this second one as I was with the first. Picked up in the middle, and ended on a big note, but I'm not ready to jump into the 3rd one in the series yet. Not sure when that will happen, but I'm not compelled to rush it.
