Listened to this, and the difference in name pronunciation was a bit stark. But the story was still fun!

I’m not very interested in authors retelling the story of a previous book they’ve written from a different character’s perspective. It was boring when Card did it, it was boring here. However this book makes up for it slightly with the parts of the last story that happened off-screen. Zoe is an interesting character and it’s nice to see her in something new and her own.

Also good lord how did every character in the book end up sounding like a character from the MCU? The quips were … tiring by the end.

Like the author and the POV had a fun attitude, but re-reading the same story as the previous book in a different POV didn’t work for me. There was not enough unique content, IMO, to justify a full-length book. Maybe a novella or short story of the more pertinent plot points would have sufficed.

Second best of the series so far (after Old Man's War). This covers the same series of events as The Last Colony, except from the perspective of Zoe. It was surprisingly entertaining.

The Last Colony as told from the eyes of John Perry's daughter. Reads pretty much like a YA novel. I enjoyed parts of this book very much, but it is my least favorite of the series.

A new perspective on Old Man’s War

Shallow but entertaining.
