Another Old Man's War book, this one from another character. Less interesting, to me, than the others, but still fun. I do enjoy John Scalzi, he has good characters with attitude.
Didn't do it for me. On the one hand, I was very excited to fill in the gaps in The Last Colony where Zoe went off on her own. This book completely satisfied me on that front. But, I didn't find it rewarding to go through the entire story again from a teen girl's perspective.
Surprisingly good read! Loved the story from Zoë's point of view, and loved the narrator.
I was supposed to go sleep but I didn't.
Nuff said.
(Now I want to go pick up the earlier 3 books.)

Cool idea of completing the gaps in the prior book’s timeline with the same take told from different character, but some chapters felt like filler
This was advertised as a stand-alone book and I think I might have enjoyed it more if I hadn't so recently read the other books in the series. Still, it was fun to get the story from Zoe's perspective.
Telling of The Last Colony from Zoe’s viewpoint
This book was basically Old Man's War #3 told from the perspective of his daughter. In other words, the young adult version of The Last Colony - if I'd have known, I wouldn't have bothered buying/reading this one.
I guess if you like Scalzi, you like Scalzi. I love his twitter persona, but find his books just so-so. If you like his glib, punchy, wise-cracky style and don't mind the thinly imaged and implausible world-building...this is vintage Scalzi! Not sure how much longer I'll stick with the Old Man's War series...but I do like the guy.
An interesting retelling of [b:The Last Colony|88071|The Last Colony (Old Man's War, #3)|John Scalzi|https://i.gr-assets.com/images/S/compressed.photo.goodreads.com/books/1437660786l/88071._SY75_.jpg|18279847] from a YA POV.
Not sure it was totally necessary but enjoyable all the same. It did fill in a couple of gaps that added to the overall story.
