The book gives me modern Little Women energy which I love (admittedly I never read the book but cried watching Greta Gerwig’s adaptation on a plane), and chronicles the dissolution of a family when the two men, the father and the one husband, fall apart in different ways, causing rifts between the sisters and the mother. It's a wonderful family saga to devour, must like The Most Fun We Ever Had. I still don’t think it was as good as The Most Fun We Ever Had, but it does present a really beautiful community/family approach for raising children and my god did it make me miss Chicago. It’s not a must read but it is certainly sweet.

If you want to be annoyed by every character in a story until the last 20% of the book, this is the one for you!
Graphic: Grief, Abandonment, and Suicide attempt

It took a while for the characters to reach a point where I really enjoyed spending time with them, and I wish I could have heard from the twins. But it was a beautiful story full of stubborn and strong women.
