I absolutely loved this book. It drew me in right from the start. The spookiness kept me on the edge a little. I loved the story within a story creativity. This isn't something I would normally be drawn to, but Jacqueline West has written an amazing story. I cannot leave without mentioning the incredibly beautiful cover art. This is a good one!

"Long Lost" ranks as a 3 for me on personal enjoyment, but a 4 when I consider it for its intended middle-grade audience. It includes some great lessons about sibling conflict and love.

A spooky little middle grade read with a slow start but a rocking finish. Told as a book within a book for most of the novel Long Lost has strong historical vibes, an excellent mystery, and some very solid sibling dynamics that made me want to throttle everyone involved(that how you know you're getting the sibling stuff right!). An excellent choice for your mystery readers in search of a not too scary ghost story.
