Started listening on my long (long) run and loved it so much, I couldn’t stop listening! I’m not usually an audiobook kind of person, but this was a great one for running. Beautifully written

Anyone who is an athlete and a human can identify with these themes of joy, suffering, loss, pushing your limits, carrying on hope and remembrance, persevering… Emily is a brutally honest and vulnerbale. There are no frills or distractions to hide behind but I appreciated the honesty she gave, in both her suffering in grief and “choosing” to suffer as an ultra runner. A poignant reminder of what it means to just live.

I should start out by saying I have no experience with the world of endurance running! I was still hooked on this story from the first page. Emily does a masterful job of weaving painfully vivid descriptions of grief with vividly painful details of 400+ miles of trail running. This book sent me though a lot of emotions and will stick with me.
