It took me a while to sit down and read this fully but when I finished I was glad I did. I enjoyed this despite boarder-line having an anxiety attack after every mention of Mr.Harvey. I think it’s a well written Book however and I would recommend reading it. Despite it being really sad and heartbreaking it was interesting to read about the Salmon family and to experience this loss with them.

This book is about grief and how it affects a family. Full stop. It's tempting to treat it like a crime novel, but it just isn't.

I think it's effective with its subject matter. Five family members, five different ways to deal with grief.

Though frustrating to me, the narrative choice to let the killer get away with it was the right one. Like, he was found out but he was never caught, and that makes sense here.

In other news, the body-swapping love scene was dumb. I think the novel would have been legitimately better without this.

Confession: I read this book about 10 years ago and literally couldn't remember what happened at all, so I decided to reread it. That's not to say the novel is forgettable, but rather my brain holds book plots poorly.
